>> GET TICKETS FOR OUR O-SNAP FINAL SHOWCASE ON FRIDAY MAY 17TH, 2024 AT NECTAR SOCIAL CLUB <<
Oaklash's Skills for Nightlife Accelerator Program (O-SNAP!) makes direct and actionable our mission to platform queer artists. By giving our community access to education and resources for engaging professionally in the Bay Area's vibrant nightlife and performance circles we strengthen our systems of support and camaraderie in a time when both are much needed.
Our second cohort will focus on intermediate-level event planning and production. The cohort will consist of five (5) local event producers who will work together to plan and produce the kick-off event for our 2024 Oaklash Festival on Friday, May 17th. This cohort will include mentorship from Bay Area event producers and the opportunity to be a part of the planning team for Oaklash! This cohort will meet weekly with our program facilitators and be supported through a process of vision, planning, and executing the event. Cohort members will also be supported with exploring their own event production endeavors, including networking and mentorship.
Consisting of seven (7) work sessions (4 live, 3 virtual), a public panel discussion, an all staff meeting, and a final event, O-SNAP! is designed for queer and trans community members with intermediate experience producing events. O-SNAP! seeks to support creativity to build fully realized programming that benefits all queer and trans persons seeking community in the cultural hub of the SF Bay Area.
Selected participants will receive a $250 stipend, hands-on coaching in events promotion, collaboration, and networking, as well as the practical skills required to become a proficient event producer. Applicants will be selected through an intentional process informed by Oaklash’s curatorial values of equity, diversity, and quality. Guided by prominent, experienced instructors representing many sectors of the nightlife industry, the cohort will develop technique and unique sensibility, employing these newly developed skills to produce an original event as a team.
